[SOLUTION] How To Clear .walkree Folder

What is .walkfree folder?

This folder automatically download apps without notification onto your phone. The only notification you get are those asking you to install the forcefully downloaded apps. They create a great loss when you are using mobile data because you may not need or never download these apps.

I seem to really have had a history with this malware of a hidden folder. You may not see this folder if you have not set hidden folders visible.

The sad thing about this ‘malware’ is that it still recreates the number of times you delete it. It will always be back. Don’t be dissapointed, there is a way out 😉 .

The Way Out

There is a way out. There is a saying that “prevention is better than cure”. So to prevent this .walkfree folder from creating on your SD card (internal/external), download all your apps from Google Play Store, not MOBOGENIE and other app markets.

These untrusted/ untrustable sources modify some apps we download from them and install some kind of downloader which ‘Only God knows” where it is installed. But its download folder is the .walkfree folder.

To remove the .walkfree folder permanently, look out for the app that is modified. Sometimes you may know directly which app it is when it is the only one you installed from an untrusted source.

I have three ways to identify this modified app:

1. The notification to install the downloaded apps normally has the icon of the modified app.

2. If you are lucky, you will see a .txt file in the .walkfree folder, the first line in that text has the name of the modified app.

3. Lastly, this one is quite rare to show but when you launch the modified app, an ad shows up which you have to close in order to use your app.

You may not know the app so look out for these symptoms in your apps to find the infected one.

Final Solution

Uninstall the identified, clear all of its folders and delete the .walkfree folder.
